
A large study of data from 80,306 adults aged 30 years or older showed that participation in: each strength-enhancing exercise was associated with a 23% reduction in all-cause mortality and a 31% reduction in cancer deaths. There was also a mild dose-dependent effect with more strength-enhancing exercise associated with lower all-cause mortality.
The study found that bodyweight exercises produced similar results to equipment-based activities.
