Yoga has the power to clear your mind, relax sore muscles, and even help you stay fit. Just a single session can improve your mood for the day. So imagine how wonderful it would be to stay on a yoga retreat where you could extend that experience for a whole week. Or even longer.
Best yoga retreats around the world
You don’t have to imagine it anymore, because at one of the yoga retreat centers below you can make it happen. From my personal favorite in Bali to Thailand’s most famous retreat center, you’ll find the best yoga retreats around the world in this post.
Tri, Sri Lanka
Tri is one of the most famous yoga retreats in Sri Lanka and the perfect retreat for anyone in need of some relaxation. Located in an old cinnamon plantation on the shores of Lake Koggala, the Tri Lanka yoga retreat is widely regarded as one of the best in this island country.
Yoga sessions take place in a treetop sala perched above a bamboo forest. That means you can experience fantastic views the entire time you are there. And there are plenty of other things you can do to fill in the gaps if you don’t practice yoga. Go kayaking, relax on the lounger by the pool, climb a coconut tree. And much more.
Yoga retreat is a great place for those seeking relaxation.
Blooming Lotus, Bali
The Blooming Lotus yoga retreat in Bali is a personal favorite of mine. It’s in Ubud, but it’s quite a drive from the city center – in a more remote area where it’s easier to find peace and quiet.
The retreat features private villas with swimming pools and twice-daily yoga classes plus optional workshops and lectures that you can attend in between yoga sessions. A mecca of relaxation and zen vibes, Ubud is excellent for creating a ritual you can maintain at home.
The only ‘disadvantage’ of the Blooming Lotus yoga retreat is that it is quite far from a beach or a town. So there is not much to do other than practice yoga.

Villa Lena, Italy
The rolling hills of Tuscany are home to quite a few of Italy’s hidden gems and Villa Lena is one of them. You’ll find it in the heart of Tuscany – right in the middle between Pisa and Florence. The hidden hilltop villa offers its guests personalized artistic retreats, including custom yoga retreats.
Creative workshops, spectacular views and a serene environment are just some of the things you can experience in Villa Lena’s yoga retreat. After the morning yoga sessions, you can spend your days with other artists, taking long walks in nature or simply exploring the neighboring vineyards.

Shambala Gatherings, Sweden
Sweden may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of yoga retreats, but it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Shambala Gatherings is a yoga retreat center in southeastern Sweden with some of the best studios and yoga teachers in Europe.
Whether you want to do a weekend retreat or recharge for an entire week, this retreat in Sweden is suitable for all tasks. It has private chefs on site, lakeside yoga studios, and as many yoga teachers as you need.
The popular retreat center doesn’t just focus on yoga, so there are plenty of other workshops and activities to keep you busy. When downward dog gets a little repetitive. Horseback riding, self-care workshops and healing through music are just a few activities you’ll discover at this Swedish retreat center.

Sanara, Tulum, Mexico
Mexico is known for its many resorts, but Sanará is certainly one of the best yoga retreats in the entire country.
Sanará means ‘you will heal’ and that is absolutely true for this luxury resort hotel. Located on Tulum Beach with incredible views of the turquoise Caribbean waters, Sanará offers all its guests a top-notch wellness center, sea-view yoga studios, excellent meals and much more.
The resort offers a variety of guest accommodation packages, and most include access to their excellent spas, wellness centers, yoga classes, plant-based meals, and other workshops. Since the hotel is located right on the beach, you are always just steps away from the ocean.
However, it is not strictly a yoga retreat. The hotel is open to all guests, not just those who are there for yoga sessions. At the same time, non-guests can also attend the same sessions.
With its breathtaking views, Mexico is a great place to travel for a yoga retreat.
Blue Spirit, Costa Rica
Blue Spirit is a world-renowned Costa Rica yoga retreat, located in the northwest of Costa Rica – on the hills overlooking the ocean. This retreat’s yoga studios offer spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding beauty. The beach is also just a few minutes away.
Internationally renowned sages, movement and yoga teachers are the main reason why people travel all over the world to stay at this retreat. Blue Spirit is an excellent place for those who value a serene environment as much as quality teachers. It is a great place to practice mindfulness, healing and self-reflection. But also for pure rest and relaxation.

Yoga’s origins go back thousands of years to India. So it should come as no surprise that one of the world’s best yoga retreats is located in the motherland. The Shreyas Yoga Retreat in Bengaluru is one of India’s top-rated yoga retreats and the perfect place for those who want to practice different types of yoga.
With world-class yoga teachers, an incredibly tranquil environment, and a top-notch spa center, there’s little to hate about the Shreyas Yoga retreat. It’s worth noting that the center also hosts other types of retreats, including silence, detox, and rejuvenation retreats.
